At the heart of her practice are the “female alien” characters she creates beings that exist on the fringes of society, constantly evolving within imagined spaces. Lee’s work delves into feminist science fiction, otherness, and psychogeography, weaving narratives that follow these fluid, transformative figures as they navigate disorienting, glitch-like landscapes. Her characters inhabit the liminal spaces where reality and fiction blur, exploring themes of displacement, identity, and the tension between external environments and internal experiences.
By integrating video, sculpture, costume, and installation, Lee crafts the vibrant, ever-shifting worlds for these characters. A recent graduate of the VAV Moving Image department at Gerrit Rietveld Academie (2024), she is based between Amsterdam (NL) and Seoul (KR), drawing on the cultural contrasts of these cities to fuel explorations. Her work is an ongoing journey into speculative futures and alternate realities, probing the edges where new possibilities emerge.
